Three Rock Archetypes (in progress)
Installation and 3 video loops
Three Rock Archetypes is a installation with three contiguous rooms, each one with a video loop being played. All video loops were extracted from recorded rock concerts widely available on the internet, either on streaming websites or on torrent websites, and each video loop consist of a compilation of clips from the concerts, with a different criteria for each.
The large room is the main entrance, and the video loop contains only clips from the public of rock concerts. It is a compilation of the in-between time that exists between each song in these concerts.
The second room contains clips of the counting that goes before a new song starts -- it is a sort of build-up of the tension and the aggressiveness of rock concerts.
The last room contains clips of the neverending endings of rock songs and concerts, with drum rolls and distorted guitars being played ad libitum.
Work-in-progress versions of the three video loops are available below:
Video Loop A (main room)
Video Loop B
Video Loop C
There's a sketch of the installation view below. Each room must be reasonably soundproof, with thick black sound absorbing curtains.
